Rare Troubles in the South

May 5, 1888

Montgomery, ALA- A special Advertiser reports a bad condition of affairs on Lowodes county, growing growing out of the recent lynching of a negro m*nterer by a white mob. The negroes hate A*** threatening vengeance. It seems and today a sheriff with a posse went in Sandy_Kietz and arrested fifteen negroes. On the way back to Haynesville, the county seat the posse engaged a mob of an achrid negroes. A conflict arose and two white men were wounded and several negroes killed. After ***** ******* **** ****** dispersed. They are reposed to be as something in **** ****** *** *** sheriff telegraphed to the governor for troops. Four companies from Montgomery are now leaving for the scene.
