Three Roasted Alive.
July 28, 1888Wheeling W. Va., July 20.- Early this morning fire broke out in a three story boarding house at the little coal mining village of Maynard, Belmont county, Ohio. The proprietor of the house, Wm. Freshner, aged 43, his son William aged 7, and a boy named Morgan, aged 14, were roasted alive in the flames. The eldest Freshner’s head, arms, legs and the arms of his son and Morgan were burned from their bodies, leaving nothing but three charred stumps. The origin of the fire is unknown, but it is supposed to have started from a ninteh thrown away by one of the intoxicated boarders. The entire crowd were having a spree.
